How will I be placed on a team?

Considerable effort is made to balance the teams and provide competition that is enjoyable for everyone. Players are placed on teams using the following criteria:

  • Requests to play for a certain coach or with a friend or neighbor
  • By school and/or location

Can I make a request at sign up?

Yes, you may request to play for a certain coach or friend/neighbor.

Can I be on a team with all my friends?

We will do our best to honor your requests.  However, we cannot guarantee placement with all of your friends.  Our most important goal in making placements is balancing the teams to provide competition that is enjoyable for everyone involved.

When will I find out which team my child is on?

Coaches will receive their rosters at the coaches meeting in late July.  Your child’s coach will contact you during the first week of August.

When do practices start?

Fall – Team practices will begin in early September.

How will practices look?

A professional staff will lead practices for all individual age groups at the same time to ensure all players and coaches are receiving proper instruction. Also, team coaches can add another day of practice, utilizing the aid of the Red Star SC staff to create a lesson plan for practice.  Practices will last 1 hour.

What info do I need to register my player(s)?

Simply register on-line, make your payment and you are done!

I would like to be a coach, assistant coach, or team parent. What should I do?

Firstly, THANK YOU! The success of our program depends on the spirit and energy of our volunteers. Every year we need coaches, assistant coaches and team parents. If you would like to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach, when you register your child you will have an opportunity to indicate that you are willing to volunteer. No experience is necessary, we will train you!

What is required to be a coach?

We ask that you attend the coaches meeting in July.  Then be able to attend team practices on Monday & games on Friday

What is required to be a team parent?

The team parent is the liaison between the coach and other parents.  The team parent usually puts the team roster together, assigns the snack schedule, handles Opening Day/Picture Day information and/or plans the “End of the Season Party”.  In addition, the coach may make other requests, such as asking the team parent to make a few phone calls reminding parents and players of practice times, game changes, etc.  We ask that all team parents attend the team parent meeting that is held in mid-August.

I would like to sponsor my child’s team. Who do I contact?

The registration fees do not completely cover the costs of running the Development League.  The league needs team sponsors to help cover the additional costs.  Team sponsorships are $250.00.  If you are interested or have questions, you can email the Red Star SC office at: redstar.wi@gmail.com

What are my responsibilities as a parent?

You are responsible for getting your child to practices, games, and other team functions on time and picking up your child promptly afterwards. Also your player is required to abide by the Red Star SC General Policies and Code of Conduct

What is the club refund policy?

Given the financial obligations to the club, no refunds, credits or fee transfers will be available. If Red Star SC is unable to place your child on a team, a full refund will be issued. There will be no reimbursements granted for games cancelled due to weather, acts of God, or forfeits.

Coaching Education

In a progressive and ongoing effort to improve coaches and to maximize the positive experience for our developmental players, Red Star SC will provide a professional staff to lead practices for all age groups.  With our professional staff leading the practices, it allows our volunteer coaches to work side-by-side and with a practice planning session in an attempt to provide our volunteer coaches with essential coaching tools to provide our children with the best possible soccer education and experience.
